Jon Butler is a shareholder at Parsons Behle & Latimer and a member of the firm’s Real Estate, Banking and Finance practice group. He represents owners and developers of multifamily, hospitality/resort, commercial office, student housing, and single family residential properties in acquisition, financing, construction, entitlement, disposition, defeasance and exchange matters and transactions.
Mr. Butler has extensive experience in negotiating with local, county, state, and federal agencies regarding development, entitlement, land use, and zoning rights and benefits. Mr. Butler has represented owners, contractors, and developers of commercial and retail properties, office buildings, hotels, manufacturing and publishing concerns, residential, ski and golf resort properties, and condominium projects, as well as owners and developers of single, multifamily, student housing and assisted-living real estate projects and properties in the western United States.
Mr. Butler has broad experience in conventional and mezzanine financing transactions, FannieMae, Freddie Mac and HUD financing transactions, as well as defeasance and Section 1031 exchange transactions. He is also experienced in drafting, negotiating, and establishing private covenants, conditions, restrictions, public land use restrictions, zoning ordinances, and institutional controls allowing for multiple use development rights in the context of complex ongoing environmental cleanup, remediation and reclamation.
