Biography

James (Jim) Meaders is a registered patent attorney and handles all aspects of intellectual property law, including patents, trademarks, licensing, non-disclosure and litigation. Mr. Meaders has experience in helping clients protect their intellectual property in a variety of fields including electronics, semi-conductors, memory, computer processing, networking, software, mechanical devices, aerospace and more.

Mr. Meaders can help guide clients at all steps of the patent application process, from concisely defining an invention and drafting the initial application to the allowance and issuance of a patent. He has substantial experience in drafting patent applications, conducting interviews with patent examiners and responding to office actions issued by the patent office. Mr. Meaders also has experience in working with foreign counsel to obtain patent protection in other countries.

In addition to helping clients with patent matters, Mr. Meaders can help clients with intellectual property transactions including, non-disclosure agreements, licensing agreements, joint research agreements, software-as-a-service agreements and more.

Mr. Meaders can help clients prevent others from infringing their intellectual property through infringement analyses, cease-and-desists, and, if necessary, litigation. He can also help clients who have been accused of infringing others’ intellectual property by defending their rights.

In 2012, Mr. Meaders earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Akron School of Law where he was an assistant editor for the University of Akron Law Review. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science from Brigham Young University.
